Dear Ms McCoy,

Thank you for forwarding the editorial to me. I have consulted with my coauthors, and here is our response.

Dr. Ratnayake is correct. We were not, under these conditions, able to separate these 2 linoleic acid isomers from each other. We regret any problems this potential mistaken identity may cause. However, the fundamental conclusion of our article, that is, that higher trans isomer levels are associated with increased odds for acute coronary syndrome case status, remains the same regardless of whether this was a cis-trans or a trans-trans linoleate isomer.
